There is this “computer problem” in the church that just wouldn’t go away. Sunday after Sunday, we are plagued with the annoying computer glitches; one after the other. The church is yet to go online; and this is why it easily falls prey to viruses from portable USB’s and disks that get plugged in it by various users.
Every choir session is hampered by these annoying problem. So I thought I could use a player that would play my midi and mp3s for my choirs and be relieved from the problem that has been bothering me. I requested our choir officers to look for an iPOD or similar player that I could use and thus avoid the unnecessary delays that waste my time and energy. These importunate situations have put my cool to the test and I cannot say that I have always passed the ordeal with flying colors.
The choir officers, having witnessed these frustrating experiences, readily agreed with me and decided quickly on the lookout for one. I left them with the choice and purchase. Che and Erma have consulted me with every detail of products they have been canvassing. But since I only needed a very simple player, I constantly tell them to decide. And so they did. Che finally bought the Creative ZEN Mosaic.
I only needed to convert my midis to mp3. And voila! Rehearsal in an instant. No more headaches. I just plug it on the church sound system or our portable computer speakers and we’re “ready to go.” Sound quality is outstanding.
I came to admire this player. It comes with a CD ROM that installs the Creative Centrale on my computer. Transferring and organizing files are a breeze, as simple as drag and drop. Also comes with the charger and ear piece.
Whenever rehearsal starts, I just turn it on, go to My Playlist, find the specific folder and song title; and play.
For quite some time, my choir have always been held captive by these “moody” PC’s.
Thank God for these gadgets. They make life so much easier. And cooler. Of course, it is capable of storing 2 gigs of data, I also uploaded my favorite songs in it. Of course, there are many other models with larger storage. For me, this is more than enough. Btw, it also stores images and videos.
And now, for something new here in my Choir blog. I read some articles about these fuel efficient and/or solar/electric powered cars and I thought you might take interest in them too.
More and more car manufacturers are coming to their senses and have seriously embarked on developing environment-friendly cars. Some of these innovations still rely on both electricity and gas. Some are electric-powered. And then some are designed to rely on wind and sun. Ingenious. Goodbye to toxic emissions.
Without further ado, here are four of the latest wind/electric/solar-powered cars for the future.
Venturi Eclectic Tribrid
Not really your safest car around, for it comes without sides. But it wasn’t designed for long range nor highway driving. This “lunar lander” is very cool for running errands or going around town. But what’s quite amazing with this car is that it can be powered entirely by wind and sun.
With its onboard wind turbine, a mere breeze can juice the car’s battery enough to provide nine miles of driving and the solar panels on the roof could give three to four miles of driving.
Last year, the makers sold 200 early versions of the car for $33,000 each. Many hope that the technology, if not the style, would continue in the years to come.
VentureOne
Now this one looks interesting. It’s one of half a dozen three-wheel concept cars being developed that combine the fuel savings of hybrids with the excitement of riding something like a motorcycle. And as you can see, the vehicle, on a quick turn, tilts to one side. How cool is that?
Priced at about $25,000, this car may go on sale come early 2010. Did you notice the glass canopy? What a ride!
Nano (a.k.a.”Tata Nano Car” )
At the New Delhi car show last January, “the New Bug” debuted. The $2,500, four-door, ten-foot-long sub-subcompact car from Tata Motors for its affordability is dubbed “The People’s Car” in India. Yes, it still runs on gas but it has a fuel-efficient engine and very minimal emission.
It has a rear-wheel drive, all-aluminum, two-cylinder, 623 cc, 33 PS, multi point fuel injection petrol engine. This is the first time that a two-cylinder gasoline engine is being used in a car with single balancer shaft. The lean design strategy has helped minimize weight, which helps maximize performance per unit of energy consumed and delivers high fuel efficiency. Performance is controlled by a specially designed electronic engine management system.
Tesla Roadster
Now, this one is my winner, hands down. Look Ma, no tailpipes! This all-electric sports car is powered entirely by its lithium-ion battery, unlike hybrids, which have two separate systems: an electric motor and a gas engine. This “Porsche” accelerates from zero to sixty in four seconds and takes more than 200 miles per electric charge. Be ready to shell out a bit more than a hundred thousand for this one. Last time I checked it sells for $109,000.
